GMOs in people's lives

European environmental organizations and public interest groups have been actively protesting against GMO food for months, and recent controversial studies on the effect of GM maize, led to the issue of genetic engineering to the forefront of public consciousness in the U.S.. In response public interest, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), held three open meetings in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Oakland, California, to solicit public opinion and to begin the process of creating a new regulatory procedure for approval Government of GMO foods.
